Laurence Rosenthal
Laurence Rosenthal Laurence Rosenthal began his career writing promotions for the nationally syndicated television series DIVORCE COURT.

A stint as executive assistant to manager/producer Sandy Gallin (who represented Dolly Parton, Whoopi Goldberg, Neil Diamond, Lily Tomlin, the Pointer Sisters, Patti LaBelle, Paul Rodriguez, and Joan Rivers) introduced him to the world of feature film development, by virtue of his duties as a script analyst.

Rosenthal went on to become a freelance script analyst for United Artists, Imagine Entertainment, and HBO until he landed at Paragon Entertainment, a Canadian-based production company where he served as director of development.

At Woods Entertainment, Rosenthal acquired and oversaw the development of screenplays for SCREAM, COPLAND, THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU'RE DEAD, CITIZEN RUTH, BEAUTIFUL GIRLS, and KATE & LEOPOLD. In the process, he launched careers for first-time writers Kevin Williamson, James Mangold, Scott Rosenberg, and Alexander Payne & Jim Taylor.

Hired by Brandon Tartikoff to run the feature and publishing divisions of his H. Beale Co., Rosenthal supervised the development of books, films and long-form TV projects including the Showtime series BEGGARS & CHOOSERS and the novels SUPERSTITIOUS, SEIZING AMBER, THE ORION PROTOCOL and FINDING BEN.

He has intermittently worked in television as well, as a segment producer for the syndicated relationship shows STUDS and BEDROOM BUDDIES, as well as a writer for the reality series IT'S A MIRACLE and BEYOND CHANCE.

Along with his writing, producing, book editing, management and development experiences, Rosenthal has also been an acclaimed instructor at the UCLA Extension Writer's Program, teaching courses and workshops in Screenwriting, The Art of Adaptation and Writing the Film Biography. He is also a member of the faculty of the L.A. Film School.

For five years running he has been appointed judge of the prestigious Diane Thomas Screenwriting Awards (UCLA Extension in conjunction with Dreamworks SKG).

As a freelance critic and journalist, Rosenthal has written for Conde Nast Traveler, Epicurious and Kabang!

He is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Circle In The Square Theatre School and a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Writers Guild of America.
